The Piqua Shawnee tribe are an Algonquian-speaking that is indigenous to the north America. The native American were semi-migratory nation during the colonial times. They mainly occupied Ohio valley that extends to Ohio and Kentucky to the east which stretches to Virginia, west Virginia, Pennsylvania and western Maryland that leads to south of Carolina and Alabama and Illinois in the united states and west Indiana.
The Shawnee were pushed west by the European-American pressure which made them move to Missouri and Kansas while others were removed to Oklahoma the Indian territory and driven west of the Mississippi river in the 1830s.
Because of the civil war some of the tribe were not able to remove themselves to Oklahoma. The federal recognized Shawnee tribes are three up to date this are; eastern Shawnee tribe of Oklahoma, absentee-Shawnee tribe of Oklahoma and Shawnee tribe despite it being made up of different historical and kingship groups.
a patrilineal system was used by the Piqua Shawnee tribe that enables the descent and the inheritance go through parental lines, and all this was before the came into contact with the Europeans. Their government was called Sachema because it was ruled by kings and that succession was how to take reign and it was to be from the mothers side. Take this as an example, if the king has children or not the mantle will still go to his brother or the sons of his sister, because no woman is allowed to inherit.
They do not want their issue become spurious that’s why they have such rules put in their government. The Piqua Shawnee tribe has five divisions which are Chillicothe, Hathawekela, Kispoko, Mekoche and Pekoni. The Shawnee tribe is divided into six clans according to its kingship in addition to the five septs. Every clan had a purpose in the overall confederacy and showed spiritual value. The six clans and the five divisions of the Shawnee tribe are familiar with each other and each Shawnee is in a clan or name.

the primary village was named after the division and it was where the chief of the division lived. Every Piqua Shawnee clan and division had specific roles it played for the whole entire tribe.
The records about the Shawnee tribe were being put down by the Europeans but the social traditions of the tribe had started to vanish with time.
